Alastair is the founder and managing partner of Timblick & Partners.

Alastair has held positions in Thailand as the Head of International Finance Group in the Bangkok office of Watson, Farley Williams and before that worked at the Bangkok Office of White & Case LLP. Alastair has significant experience in advising on a broad range of corporate transactions both in Asia and in Europe. Alastair worked for 11 years in the London, Hong Kong and Bangkok offices of Hogan Lovells. During his time in Asia, Alastair's practice has included mergers and acquisitions, initial public offerings, private equity, corporate restructuring, convertible debt placings, joint ventures and securities and financial services regulatory matters. Alastair serves on the boards of a number of client companies.

  • TMB - advising TMB on its proposed USD 1 billion recapitalisation programme;
  • SCB Asset Management Company Limited – advising SCBAM on its role as the fund manager of the Land and Houses property fund listed on the Stock Exchange of Thailand;
  • Lazard India – advising Lazard India on the proposed tender offer for a controlling stake in a listed shipping company;
  • PTT – advising PTT on its acquisition of the JET Service Stations from Conoco Phillips;
  • Manulife (Thailand) – advising Manulife on shareholding structures and other regulatory issues;

(formerly, Thai Wah Pcl.) – advising the Steering Committee of various major Asian and European banks (including UOB, Schroders, DBS Thai Danu Bank, Soc Gen, Siam Commercial Bank, Bangkok Bank) in relation to the restructuring of the debts and business of Thai Wah, a major Thai hotel resorts and tapioca listed business;
  • Angel Airlines – advising a Thai airline (Angel Airlines) on the restructuring of its business and capital raising exercise;
  • Barclays Bank plc – advising Barclays Bank on the acquisition of DBS Thai Danu Securities Co. Ltd from DBS Bank;
  • Saga Co. Limited – advising Saga, a Taiwanese jewelry and watch manufacturer on its acquisition of a Thai jewelry manufacturing business from a US company in Chapter 11;

  • KGI Securities – advising KGI Securities, a Taiwanese securities company on its investment in a Korean internet based securities trading company;
  • Hong Kong Bank – advising Hong Kong Bank in relation to financial assistance aspects in connection with the financing of the acquisition by PCCW of Hong Kong Telecom;
  • Investment Funds – advising US hedge funds (Highbridge, Citadel, Deephaven, Rhino, Ramius Capital) on the subscription of a number of privately placed convertible bonds and warrants issued by companies listed on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange;
  • Dresdner Kleinwort Wasserstein – advising Dresdner on various consultation papers issued by the SFC in connection with changes to the Code on Takeover and Mergers;
  • SITA – advising SITA, a major European water and waste management company in relation to the restructuring of its interest in a Singapore government joint venture;
  • Standard Chartered Bank – advising Standard Chartered Bank on the acquisition and sale of a large number of distressed loans to various financial institutions (Lehman Brothers, Bank of America, Salomon Brothers, Deutsche Bank etc) under LMA and LSTA standard terms;
